Rama repeats the refrain: I did not capture the Constitutional Court

Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again repeated his statements regarding the Constitutional Court's decision on the case against Erion Veliaj.

In an interview, Rama said that the decision against Veliaj showed that the Constitution is not captured by him.

"The Constitutional Court decided differently. I did not arrest the GJK. It is not the first time that it decides differently from my will. It is right to give decisions that are its responsibility to give. The Constitutional Court releases it because it contradicts itself. No matter what the government argues, that Erioni did not violate the Constitution. Should it take it into consideration? That he did not violate it and did not commit any crime. He simply did not show up for work, but the work must be done. I know that the GJK left Tirana without elections and without a president. It must take the second step to do its duty. If I were to return, I would do the same thing. We will not go and hit the wall headfirst. It is practically entering into conflict with the system. As the SP, we have given the independence of the justice system," said Rama.

As CNA pointed out in an analysis published a few days ago, this is in fact simply a game played by the prime minister, who has the Constitution in his hands.

The Constitutional Court is a captured instrument that did the best service for Erion Veliaj, who spent some time in prison and now this same court will be used to get him out of prison. While the fact is that no circumstances have changed regarding the accusations against Erion Veliaj for corruption and committing the most serious criminal offenses, for the latter to be released. Although Edi Rama played his game until the end, the decision of the Constitutional Court is a game of Edi Rama and his alone. /CNA
