The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, explained today in detail the reason that is pushing the opposition to oppose Endri Shabani's candidacy for Ombudsman.

In a statement to journalists, Berisha said that Shabani is a person who has no connection whatsoever with the majority and Prime Minister Edi Rama, despite supporting the opposition for Florjan Binaj in the race for Tirana.

"He supported Binaj because he was a strong moral coalition, but a number of problems emerged. The one who had that vocabulary as an oppositionist, but was a person with close ties to Edi Rama, this is not only our opinion, but also factors unrelated to the opposition, who were and are that the Ombudsman should be a trustworthy person, with credentials and high integrity. At the very least, he is the chairman of a party, but they also decided in the Laws Commission that deputies will not have the right to sign for more than one member. That is why they sent a letter to withdraw signatures. Surprisingly, this decision was rejected by the majority without any decision. The PS did this because they were losing Shabani's signatures. There is no agreement on his name. There were 27 candidacies, it was simply a support to present themselves in the race and be selected.
