Prime Minister Edi Rama has revealed the reasons for his engagement in politics during an interview on the show "Opinion", emphasizing that this was not a planned goal or ambition.

Rama said he never imagined he would return to that podium in the position he holds today, nor that he would engage in active politics. According to him, politics has never been his personal ambition, while his initial commitment was related to the need for freedom and expression.

The head of government indicated that the first steps of his commitment came in academic environments, especially in the field of visual arts and theater, where censorship and isolation were felt more strongly than anywhere else.

According to him, his engagement in politics came as a result of circumstances and the need for freedom, not as a deliberate choice for a political career.

"I never imagined that I would be able to return to this podium in the position I am in today, I never imagined that I would be involved in politics."

Freedom was not a political ambition. I had no desire to deal with everyday politics, to be involved in a party.

"I saw it only as a format of freedom that I needed and it was no coincidence that the first seed of a process that escalated outside the academy was planted here because here, especially in the part dealing with visual arts and theater, the walls of censorship, the walls of isolation, the walls that limited freedom were felt more," said Rama. / CNA
