Problem with identification documents/ Kaso seeks solution from the Parliament

The legal representative of the Democratic Party, Ivi Kaso, expressed concern today over the problem of the invalidity of Albanian voter identification documents.

In a statement to the media on this issue regarding the May 11, 2025 elections, Kaso said that there is no reason for a citizen not to vote just because their identification document has expired or they have an old document.

Kaso requested that this issue be addressed by the Assembly, to issue a decision that will serve for these elections and the next elections.

"There is no legal reason not to implement in the electoral process that voters should not vote just because their identification document has expired or they have an old document."

This right to vote should not be denied. This right should be equal.

This concern is raised again now, it is not the first time it has been raised by the DP, because it is a concern as long as it is of major interest to Albanian citizens.

It is not an electoral advantage for the opposition. The opposition has decided not to look at electoral interests, but at the interests of Albanian voters.

"We are looking for solutions for voters from abroad. It is now the duty of the Assembly to take measures for this electoral process, but also for future processes," said Kaso./ CNA
