Problems with voter registration/ Bylykbashi: Government to extend the deadline

The Vice President of the Democratic Party, Oerd Bylykbashi, reacted today regarding two important issues of the pre-election period: data on the real number of voters from abroad and the lack of valid identification documents for voters from the diaspora.

Bylykbashi said that these data are incorrect and manipulated by INSTAT, since in reality the number of Albanians is different.
As for the invalidity of identification documents, he said that this is an obstacle since the right to vote is not exercised and that the government should have taken measures.


" INSTAT data from recent years, which according to us are manipulated. The delay in publishing this data is an indicator of this manipulation.
There are less than 2 million Albanians and not 2.4 million Albanians living in the Republic of Albania.
While Albanians living abroad are more than the figure published by INSTAT.
It is proof of this state and this government that it does not have accurate official information.
The data confirmed by the CEC Over 600 thousand Albanians do not have valid documents.
There are no details whether they are biometric or expired documents.
The request for information has not been answered.
The government should have extended the deadlines for providing documents and this has not happened.
Edi Rama refused this in the summer for the Himara elections, in order to take the mandate from Bejler.
The situation is serious and the government is not taking steps to guarantee legal security for everyone.
We have presented an amendment on this issue.
"If there is no solution from Parliament, the rights of people who do not vote will remain on paper.
The Electoral Code must be adapted as soon as possible ," said Bylykbashi.
