Basha wakes up from deep sleep/ Reacts 24 hours late to OECD report

After 24 hours of deep sleep, Lulzim Basha woke up this afternoon and reacted to the OECD report.

Although the report, which emphasizes that Albania has the lowest per capita health spending in Europe, was published yesterday, Basha was only remembered today to comment and express concern about the difficult situation of Albanians.

In his reaction, Basha also reveals the current program of the "Euro-Atlantic Democrats" while not hesitating to ask for the vote of Albanians on May 11.

The OECD report on the state of health in Europe shows a serious lack of investment in Albanian healthcare, which directly affects the quality of healthcare and the well-being of citizens. With per capita spending almost 5 times lower than the EU average, Albania faces major challenges such as the lack of modern equipment, insufficient infrastructure and limited human resources in the healthcare sector.
The dramatic situation in healthcare is a consequence of the total failure of Edi Rama, who promised free healthcare, but today citizens pay 60% of the costs out of pocket, while budget money goes to clientelistic and corrupt concessions, as SPAK investigations prove.
This report is another call for a radical change, which can only start with your vote on May 11, to leave behind someone who works only for himself, has no interest in the health of citizens.
The Euro-Atlantic Democrats' program envisages a well-studied reconceptualization of the health service, to make it according to the needs of citizens, not according to their pockets:
We implement the principle "the money follows the patient", giving every Albanian a health insurance card, with which they can choose where and how to be treated (public or private) without additional payments;
We strengthen the health insurance scheme, moving from a single payer to several payers;
We increase the health budget, with 50% more going to reimbursement and motivation of medical personnel;
We cancel unnecessary PPPs, which rob taxpayers of millions;
We create the National Agency for Health Accounts to control spending in the public and private sectors;
We invest in digital technology, such as the electronic card, which allows the patient to be treated wherever they want, while having their medical history with them;
We improve the basic health insurance package, with reimbursement according to diagnosis, so that no patient is left without treatment due to the lack of drugs on the lists;
We fight substandard drugs and the drug mafia, providing modern and safe medications for every citizen.
With your commitment and support, we can build a modern healthcare system, where the dignity and livelihood of everyone are truly protected.
Albania deserves more. /CNA
