President Bajram Begaj quietly decrees the law on gender equality

The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has silently passed the law on gender equality.

Prompted by a series of controversies regarding this matter, it seems that President Begaj has chosen not to express any public position, decreeing the law silently.

The controversy over this law began weeks ago, as the majority and the opposition interpreted several articles of the law in different ways.

The debate on this law also included several senior EU representatives, such as the head of the EU Delegation in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, but also the Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.

Representatives of religious communities in Albania, as well as many well-known public figures , expressed their views on this law./CNA
