Wiretaps against Veliaj/ Journalist reveals other details, what was the

Journalist Bleona Metushi revealed details about the wiretaps conducted against Mayor Veliaj on Blendi Fevziu's Opinion show.

According to the journalist, the prosecution handed over the wiretaps to show what she claims, namely the mayor's personality and desire to present differently the circumstances that the prosecution is investigating, i.e. it is not related to the fact of the continuation of a crime, but more to show that the security measure should continue in the same "prison arrest".

Among other things, he emphasizes that so far sources have confirmed that these conversations have been submitted by the Special Prosecution to the Court of Appeal to show that the earlier attempts were also confirmed by a phone message that Mayor Erion Veliaj had sent during the checks in December to a BKH investigator, in the wake of this, the two prosecutors claimed in front of Judge Engert Pëllumbi that the security measure should not be changed, since this behavior that was ascertained during the investigations continues to be the same on the part of the mayor.

The journalist's statement:

Bleona Metushi: After the appeal filed by Mayor Erion Veliaj regarding the security measure "Arrest in prison", the Special Prosecution responded with a counter-appeal to the Court of Appeal where on Tuesday, at the end of their speech, they spoke last since the Court of Appeal had been moved by Erion Veliaj and the other suspects, two special prosecutors submitted to the special judge of the Appeal, Engert Pëllumbi, some wiretap transcripts that they had obtained from the moment Erion Veliaj was placed in detention in Durrës.

Blendi Fevziu: So they wiretapped Erion Veliaj in Durrës detention center, but was it wiretapped with or without the permission of the Court?

Bleona Metushi: It was a wiretapping that a court decision was requested earlier by the Prosecution, approved and then it is not yet confirmed how many days this wiretapping lasted, however it is a considerable number of conversations. These are telephone conversations that Mayor Erion Veliaj had with his brother, but also with his wife Ajola Xoxa, from the prison cell.

So far, sources have confirmed that these conversations and for this reason they have been submitted by the Special Prosecution to the Court of Appeal to show that the earlier attempts were also confirmed by a phone message that Mayor Erion Veliaj had sent during the checks in December to a BKH investigator. In the wake of this, the two prosecutors claimed in front of Judge Engert Pëllumbi that the security measure should not be changed, since this behavior that was ascertained during the investigations continues to be the same on the part of the mayor.

Bleona Metushi: Conversations have been established in which Mayor Erion Veliaj was orienting or talking to his people regarding the interviews on television that would be conducted, but also about their public strategy to protect themselves. It is not considered a crime by the prosecution. I explained that the prosecution submitted these to show what it claims, namely the personality and desire of the mayor to present differently the circumstances that the prosecution is investigating, so it is not related to the fact of the continuation of a crime, but more to show that the security measure should continue in the same "prison arrest"./ CNA
