Parliament approves 10 draft laws/ 'EU Growth Plan' and 'Mountain

The Thursday plenary session of the Albanian Parliament was held this afternoon. During the session, some of the important issues on the agenda were discussed, including the draft law of the "Mountain Package", the 'EU Growth Plan', the opening of the European Parliament office in Tirana, the extension of the deadlines of the Xhafaj and Braçe Commissions, medical cannabis and the 'Smart City' project.

The absence of DP deputies was noticeable. However, the decision on 10 draft laws was put to a vote.

The Assembly approved with 74 votes in favor the “loan agreement between the Bank of Albania and the European Union to facilitate reforms and enlargement for the Western Balkans”. The agreement provides for financial assistance of 657 million euros in loans and 264 million euros in grants with a focus on 5 main objectives: increasing competitiveness, training human capital, consolidating energy sustainability, digital transformation and consolidating the rule of law.

The draft law "On the ratification of the facility agreement between Albania and the EU" received 73 votes in favor, while the one for the "Mountains Package" received, in addition to 73 votes in favor from the majority, 1 against and 1 abstention from opposition deputies in the hall.

The cultivation of medical cannabis received a majority of votes with 74 of them, none against and no abstentions. The draft law on assistance received 73 votes in favor and the abstention of MP Leskaj. 

The extensions of the deadlines of the Special and Disinformation Commissions of Fatmir Xhafaj and Erion Braçe were also approved with 73 votes in favor, none against and no abstentions.

The draft law "On the ratification of the agreement between the Republic of Albania and the European Investment Bank regarding the opening of a representative office of the European Investment Bank in Albania" secured 72 votes in favor and no votes against or abstentions. /CNA
