Defendant for Tirana Incinerator/ Former Minister Lefter Koka seeks acquittal

Former Minister of Environment, Lefter Koka, under investigation for the Tirana Incinerator case, has requested a change in his security measure and a declaration of innocence.

Today, the Special Court is holding a hearing on the case of the Tirana incinerator and former Minister Koka. His lawyer has requested acquittal.

"We seek acquittal on the charge of abuse of office, there is no criminal offense, we also have documents about the illnesses that my client suffers from, to be taken into account in case he is found guilty," said the lawyer.

SPAK requested in the last session a 4-year prison sentence for Lefter Koka, but if found guilty, the former minister will receive a 1/3 reduction in his sentence and will be sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison. /CNA
