"DP is ready for elections"/ Teliti: We have been demanding

The Deputy Chairman of the Tirana Municipal Council, Dorjan Teliti, said today that the elections to be held for the Tirana Municipality have been requested for three months by the opposition.

In a television show, Teliti stated that the Democratic Party is ready for the Tirana Municipal elections, the moment they are decreed.

Teliti also focused on the opposition's efforts for new elections for the capital, adding that the Democratic Party has been demanding the dismissal of the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, for about three months.

"The opposition will go to the elections when they are decreed by the President. We have been requesting early elections in Tirana for four months. They are being delayed due to the arrogance of the government. The 3-month deadline was met in May, at which point the elections should have been completed and the way cleared."

The DP is ready for elections. If then with elections, we call it normal, use of the administration, 5D, and so on... But we are ready for elections.

"We have requested the dismissal of the mayor of Tirana, with the argument that he can delegate for up to three months and when he is not present at work, he must leave," said Teliti. /CNA
