"Rama as Tirana's Caligula"/ Luli's candidate becomes

Lulzim Basha's candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, who failed to even come in third place in the race results, Roland Bejko, has defended the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

Through a reaction on social media, Bejko accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of acting like the Roman emperor Caligula with his decision.

"Diella as a minister in the government cabinet seems like a very nice find by Edi Rama.

In this case, Rama is like Caligula in ancient Rome, who appointed his horse as consul of Rome, making the senators and all its citizens bow to him with the deepest respect.
In addition to the horse, Caligula also built a royal palace for him, treating him as his closest associate. Anyone who dared to disrespect the horse, or even mutter a word, would have his head cut off on the spot.

We don't know if there will be a special article in the new penal code that is expected to be approved that would provide for prison sentences or community service for anyone who dares to slander the new technology minister named Diella. Let's wait and see.

Ps. That Erion Veliaj deserves not to be mayor of Tirana, this is known for a long time.
But his dismissal today by Edi Rama at a party meeting is in complete violation of the law on local self-government which provides for the cases and the manner when, how, and by whom a mayor is dismissed:
1. When he is sentenced by a final decision. 2. At the request of the municipal council addressed to the council of ministers when he does not show up for work without reason for three months.
3. By the Council of Ministers when he has committed serious violations of duty.

So Rama's decision, if implemented a priori, is a decision that can be legally challenged by interested parties.

"So, in this case, Veliaj was not dismissed by law, but by Maliqi of his own free will. That is, Caligula dismissed him. This practice is un-European and contrary to the European Charter of Local Autonomy of the Council of Europe, which protects and promotes local democracy," writes Bejko. /CNA
