Veliaj sends threats to Rama through Mero Baze

In a material published by Mero Baze directly after Prime Minister Edi Rama's request for the dismissal of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, who is in Durrës prison, the latter's reaction has also come.

A material without authorship, in fact, often the legal materials of Veliaj's lawyers do not bear names, perhaps due to the fact that the texts also contain nonsense or deception.

There are two confirmed cases, that of prosecutor Ols Dado's request to the municipality for an extension, when in fact it has not been published for weeks, or the fact that it is emphasized that they are not prosecutors, when in fact they have served as such and have also passed the vetting controlled by the Rilindja government.

In the reaction issued by Baze, there are clear threatening phrases that Veliaj will not retreat, but will confront Edi Rama. In fact, week after week, Veliaj's mentor, Mero Baze, has articulated the fact that Veliaj has been imprisoned by Edi Rama, but has never had the courage to write it publicly. Recently, Mero has been recommending fodder foods in his scattered notes.

Veliaj's fight with Rama has just begun and the reaction of the one who can today be called the former mayor of Tirana has been immediate and threatening towards the prime minister.

The anonymous reaction, which defends Veliaj, reads: "During his speech at the National Assembly of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama proposed the idea of ??a new name at the head of the Municipality of Tirana, suggesting the dismissal of Erion Veliaj.

Politics always has its right to demand changes, to articulate positions, and to express distrust of a certain figure, but political right is one thing, while the legal basis is something entirely different.

The recommendation for caution is further given, "The proportionality test is a necessary condition: the importance of the violated law, the consequences of the violation, their duration, and the person's subjective attitude towards the violation must be carefully assessed before making such a drastic decision," reads the anonymous response that defends Veliaj on legal grounds.

The reaction also highlights the issue of the Court of Appeals' decision at the moment when it is thought that Rama has requested Erion Veliaj's resignation, "The decisions of the Courts of Appeal may be enforceable, but they are not final, therefore they cannot be used as a basis to terminate an elected mandate. This is a legal guarantee that protects the principle of the presumption of innocence and the legitimacy of the mandate resulting from the vote of the citizens."

Finally, the icing on the cake is Veliaj's attack and the confrontation with Rama in the Constitutional Court if the mayor is dismissed. In conclusion, this debate reminds us of a fundamental distinction in democracy: the separation between the political right to demand change and the limits set by law to protect the stability and legitimacy of institutions established by popular vote.

Dismissal of a mayor is an extraordinary instrument, dangerous to politicize and therefore bound by high legal standards. In the case of Erion Veliaj, these standards are not met, and consequently, every move by Rama remains a political rather than a legal act.

The clash has just begun, in the coming days the situation is expected to become even more tense with Veliaj's resistance to leaving office and Prime Minister Rama having already announced Manastirliu as a candidate for the Municipality of Tirana./ CNA
