Rama proposes reducing the number of deputies in the Assembly from 140 to 101

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his speech to the Socialist Party National Assembly, proposed reducing the number of deputies in the Albanian Parliament from 140 to 101 deputies.

" For the first time in more than 3 decades, we need a new cycle of reform and reorganization for several institutions, including the Albanian Parliament. The excess number of deputies. Reducing the number of deputies in the Assembly to at least 101 deputies, even fewer, would only have a positive impact. Therefore, this change should be our objective that coincides with the will of our voters ," Rama said.

According to the socialist leader, a complete reform should also be carried out for the Commissions, where the number of Temporary Commissions should be increased and the number of members in the Commissions should be reduced, which according to Rama makes the efficient work of the Assembly difficult.

The head of government declared that 7 Standing Committees will be led by the majority and 4 by the opposition.
The Standing Committees will be:
1. Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance (Majority)
2. Committee on Legal Affairs and Public Administration (Majority)
3. Committee on Internal Affairs and Defense (Majority)
4. Committee on Education, Science and Sports (Opposition)
5. Committee on Health and Social Welfare (Opposition)
6. Committee on Natural Resources, Infrastructure and Sustainable Development (Majority)
7. Committee on Human Rights and Public Information Media (Opposition)
8. Committee on Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Majority)
9. Committee on Culture, Tourism and Diaspora (Opposition)
10. Committee on Europe and Foreign Affairs (Majority)
11. Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight (Majority)
