"Ministers hide their heads like ostriches"/ Malaj: Sports betting continues to 'swallow' hundreds of millions of euros

Former Minister of Finance, Arben Malaj, shared a critical stance today regarding the institutional mismanagement of the sports betting situation.

Through a post on social media, Malaj states that this activity produces hundreds of millions of euros, which come out of citizens' pockets, while no relevant bylaw is issued.

According to Malaj, this is not an inability to catch the crime of Albanian politics.

"No minister can continue for long hiding his head like an ostrich and not answering concrete questions. Sports betting continues to 'swallow' hundreds of millions of euros. The Ministry of Finance violates the law by not issuing the relevant bylaws, while hundreds of millions go to the real owners of sports betting. This is not incompetence, but a high risk of criminal groups influencing fiscal policies, while it is widely accepted and emphasized that Albanian politics is gripped by crime", Malaj writes, among other things. /CNA
