The Central Election Commission responded through a public session this Thursday regarding the Democratic Party's claims regarding the mayor of Malesia e Madhe, Toni Marinaj.

According to the CEC, Marinaj has not been convicted by a final decision by an Albanian or foreign judicial authority.

For this reason, the CEC emphasizes that no decision can be made regarding Marinaj's termination of mandate.  

"The Mayor of the Municipality of Malesia e Madhe does not appear to have been convicted by a final decision by an Albanian or foreign judicial authority. It does not appear that he has ever been convicted by a non-final judicial decision, also by any Albanian or foreign authorities. It does not appear that there is any criminal proceeding registered against him by Albanian or foreign authorities. It does not appear that he has been arrested or detained. It does not appear that there has been any personal coercive measure or that an international search warrant has been issued against him. There is no reason to terminate the mandate of the Mayor of the Municipality", - according to the reasoning by the CEC./CNA
