Scandal with the licensing of “Jet Bank”/ The Minister of State

Minister of State, Erjona Ismaili, responded today regarding the licensing issue of the digital bank "Jet Bank".

In her speech, after Prime Minister Edi Rama delegated the interpellation called with her, Ismaili described it as disinformation produced at the headquarters of the Democratic Party, whose MPs raised the request in the Assembly.

According to the minister, such a procedure is not carried out by either Rama or the government, but is solely the competence of the Bank of Albania.

 "I regret the misinformation and confusion, as well as the concern created in the headquarters of political parties at the expense of citizens. This is a stain that the Democratic Party bears due to exaggerated party interest that prevails over the interest of Albanian citizens and the nation. This issue is not the competence of the government. The Constitution and the law clearly sanction institutional independence, including the licensing of banking activities, which is carried out independently and outside the influence of any other power, including the executive branch. For you, these are irrelevant, from the history of your party. The truth, like the Sun, cannot be covered with a sieve. Neither the prime minister nor the government licenses banks, but the Bank of Albania. This is a cornerstone for guaranteeing its duties, including banking supervision. Any rhetoric that undermines its credibility can have profound consequences for the entire economy of the country," Ismaili said. /CNA
