"Corruption ate us up"/ Berisha: Massive impoverishment of Albanians

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, raised today a series of issues that, according to him, are causing the massive departure of Albanian citizens. 

In his speech to the Democrats of Branch No. 5 in Tirana, Berisha said that all areas of life have been destroyed by corruption, while also listing some of them.

Berisha said that the economic situation in the country is also closely linked to the activities of a government that steals, at a time when prices have increased and Albanians are underpaid.

"Among the most critical times in Albania, which is experiencing the greatest devastation in its entire history since the 1300s plague. Albanians left this country, like no other nation, in 10 years from 2015-2025, over 1 million Albanians fled to Schengen alone. Cultural institutions in the country were destroyed by corruption, they ate them up. While the economic decline is the enrichment of a very small group of people, when we have massive impoverishment. We are the worst paid, but how are the prices? They have increased almost 100%. The prices of medicines are in the stratosphere. That is why a citizen said one day that they are leaving because the government protects thefts", - said Berisha. /CNA
