Meta from prison: 108 parties overthrew the May 11 electoral farce

The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has reacted to the resolution of the world's largest political organization, IDC-CDI, where 108 parties overturned the May 11 electoral farce.

Meta said that these elections were criminalized and did not meet any international standards, violently violating the Copenhagen criteria.

He adds that he firmly supports the IDC-CDI's decision to condemn the manipulation of the electoral process through state capture and criminal collaboration in voter intimidation and manipulation of results.

"I welcome and fully support the very important Resolution of the largest political organization in the world, IDC-CDI, where 108 parties overthrew the electoral farce of May 11th!

These criminalized elections did not meet any international standards and grossly violated the Copenhagen criteria, and I strongly support the IDC-CDI decision to condemn the manipulation of the electoral process through state capture and criminal collaboration in voter intimidation and manipulation of results; the judicial persecution of opposition leaders; and the institutional impunity for electoral crimes.

I highly appreciate the very clear messages of the IDC-CDI on the necessity of urgently implementing the OSCE/ODIHR priority recommendations, on ending political persecution and restoring full rights to opposition leaders, as well as on the creation of a technical government, according to the North Macedonia model, to oversee EU-oriented reforms and prepare new elections.

Without guaranteeing free voting, the foundation of democracy and the rule of law, there can never be integration of Albania into the European family! ", writes Meta./ CNA
