The leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, declared today that Prime Minister Edi Rama is trying to take on all possible roles himself, sidelining the opposition.

Invited to A2CNN, Mediu stated that a common opposition concept is needed, for the benefit of opposition parties, but also Albanians.

"The opposition must start the electoral reform with a common opposition concept. So, a common opposition position of all opposition political forces must be built, for the electoral system, and it must definitely be done with a concrete platform, which will determine what the points of the opposition analysis for this electoral reform are. Within this concept, when we reach a common goal, it is easier for us to influence, also because we have a negotiation for a certain solution with the international factor. The same goes for territorial reform. The arguments can go that there is no need for local government, but only for central government. Because today, in fact, there is no local government, but only a prime minister who removes and dismisses every kind of local administration official. And undoubtedly, this is also Rama's final goal. Without an opposition municipality, only one prime minister, not even ministers because he does everything himself, not even a mayor because he does everything himself.
