Associations' demands after the oil price increase/ Rama: Only one category

Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to the requests of Confindustria and the Association of Hydrocarbon Companies regarding the increase in oil prices.

Regarding the request that "the additional revenue in the budget from the implementation of VAT on increased fuel prices compared to the pre-crisis period be returned directly to citizens and businesses in the final price", Rama said that there will be a refund, but only for the category of pensioners.

Among other things, the head of government emphasized that there will be no abolition of the circulation tax, while adding that the philosophy of the tax in the price structure is that "the biggest polluters will pay more."

"Referring to requests from various associations. One that has caught my attention is that the entire additional revenue in the budget from the implementation of VAT on increased fuel prices compared to the pre-crisis period, be returned directly to citizens and businesses in the final price.

There is only one category that will receive more whenever the opportunity arises, and that is that of pensioners. No one else will ask the state budget for more than they deserve, regardless of the situations that arise. Salaries have increased and are increasing continuously, especially for those with qualifications. The question is no longer "will you come to work for this salary" but "how much salary do you want to come to work". We are at this stage of the country's development.

Our answer to every request, attempt or fantasy about what comes as an increase in the state budget is yes, but only for pensioners. The circulation tax set in the fuel price structure is that if it goes away from here, it will go somewhere else. If it goes somewhere else, it will go to the vehicle user as a vehicle tax. I do not believe that there is a driver today who, for the amount of fuel he consumes, pays four times this value for the car. The philosophy of the tax in the price structure is that the biggest polluters will pay more", said Rama. /CNA
