"We have won a battle, not the war"/ Berisha: Opposition protests

The leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, Sali Berisha, delivered his speech at the protest taking place this afternoon in front of the Prime Minister's Office. Berisha said during his speech that the opposition and their protests managed to stop what he described as "a coup d'état within the state."

Among other things, the leading democrat said that Prime Minister Edi Rama declared war on justice to protect his own thefts. He further said that Rama is the only enemy of Albanians who is depopulating the country.

"We were on the verge of a coup d'état within the country. You used the entire executive branch to exert pressure on the Constitutional Court to protect Belinda Balluku. The first phase of this coup d'état failed. You brave people with your protest have your part in this part. Your revolt in the last protest gave a signal inside and outside the country that we will not tolerate the coup d'état to protect Edi Rama's thefts. February is the month when we dragged the dictator away, it is the month when we will save Albania. You became the main news in Albania and the world. If you were not Edi Rama, he would have managed to pull off the coup d'état. I have denounced the head of the first and only narco-state in Europe in international chancelleries. Your revolt is the voice of conscience and civic dignity. They can say many things against us, but the truth is that the opposition prevented the most dangerous coup d'état in the history of Albania. We have won a battle but not the war. Edi Rama has declared war on "Edi Rama is the most dangerous enemy of Albania and Albanians ," said the leader of the Democratic Party.

During his speech, Berisha also spoke about the Hague Prosecutor's claim against former KLA leaders, saying it was identical to the pamphlets of Serbian ultranationalists.

"Yesterday in The Hague, the prosecution filed a claim against former KLA leaders, identical to the pamphlets of Serbian ultranationalists. I call on them to evaluate everything on the basis of the law. To declare innocent those men who protected Albanians from the Serbian genocide," Berisha said. /CNA
