Journalist raises the alarm: Gangs have their people in the Assembly

Journalist Julian Hoxhaj has stated that from the point of view of democracy, we are at the darkest and lowest point.

He emphasized that there can be no talk of democracy in a country where criminal groups have their people in Parliament.

"In terms of democracy, we are at the darkest and lowest point; there is no longer any talk of democracy in Albania, when in the Assembly there are already deputies elected by very powerful criminal groups in our country. These powerful groups have economic concessions with the blessing of the government, through Rama's firms, which has legalized money laundering for these groups.

The case of Arkend Balla, denounced by the opposition, is one of those cases that stands out in these elections. First, he is a deputy with many doubts regarding his asset declarations. On the one hand, he declares modest employment, like any citizen with modest salaries, but on the other hand he declares savings of up to 2.3 million euros. It is not known whether these are errors or slips made in the asset declaration form, or whether he really has them deposited in the bank.

The second element is his connection with gangs or people who are wanted by the justice system, such as the Durrës, Tropojani groups and the Italian mafia. The Danaj brothers' group in Vlora, who were employees of Arkend Balla, are precisely these two groups that were his employers and that obtained construction permits for hotels in Durrës and Vlora from Edi Rama at different times.

This is an indication that these powerful groups have their people in the Assembly. The other element is that we do not know all the deputies, but there are indications that many of the candidates who emerged as deputies in the May 11 elections in the hottest districts, such as Durrës, Elbasan, Fier and Vlorë, are likely to have some kind of sponsorship behind them. Sara Mile in Elbasan, Ervin Hoda, the Gonxhe Ministry that was rumored in Vlorë, are new and current names that are suspected of having support from these groups.

"This is a strong alarm bell, which should wake up all of us, Albanian citizens. The problem is that these people are the ones who will sign various laws, will propose laws with orders in the Assembly for various economic concessions," the journalist said./ CNA
