Electoral process/ Celibashi: We still have problems, the majority should not

The State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, present at the roundtable "Comprehensive Reform for Election Integrity", focused on the OSCE/ODIHR preliminary report on the May 11 elections.

Celibashi said that the OSCE/ODIHR findings are not contested by any political party and this makes it easier to make fair judgments on the electoral process.

Further, the head of the CEC said that based on the preliminary findings of the OSCE mission, it appears that there are still problems that need to be resolved regarding the electoral process.

Celibashi stated that he hopes that the majority will not be an obstacle to reaching a consensus regarding the improvements that need to be made to the electoral process in the country.

"No one disputes the OSCE-ODIHR findings. This makes it easier to give fair judgments of the electoral process. And why do parties have different readings of the same findings? Based on the preliminary assessments and findings for the May 11 elections, we must admit that we still have problems.

"We must remove the possibility of questioning the integrity of the electoral process. I hope that the majority will not be an obstacle to having a consensus on what we need to improve in the electoral process in Albania ," Celibashi said./ CNA
