Fredi Beleri, interview for "Kathimerini"/ "I was arrested as

Fredi Beleri, the candidate of the opposition in the last elections in Himara, currently in prison under the charge of buying votes, gave an interview to the newspaper " Kathimerini ".

Beleri accuses the Albanian authorities of his arrest.

"They struck as soon as they learned that many Himaryos were preparing to travel from Athens to vote and realized they were losing Himara. 

For those who don't know, Himara is not included in the regions recognized by Albania as minorities... I was arrested the same way they do with international terrorists. They wanted to stop the wave of patriots coming from Athens and terrorize the Albanians who supported me".

According to him, he has not been interrogated yet, although he has been in the cell for 50 days:

"I haven't been called for any questions so far. They have kept me for so many weeks and they haven't even asked me my name!"

Beleri has declared that his arrest is related to the property issue, but also to the uprooting of Greeks from Himara, as he says, to whom he has called to show patience.
