Agron Duka: The electoral system, the "Achilles" heel for elections in

With the initiative of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party (PAA), the LZHK and the Thurja Movement, a so-called table was created for the amendment of the Electoral Code.

The duke has become one of the most "rebellious" initiators for changing the electoral system through a popular referendum.

Very soon this initiative was joined by other small parties, which are actually heavily penalized by the current electoral system.

Yesterday, Duka, supported by his colleagues Dashamir Shehi and Endrit Shabani, emphasized that "the current electoral system is unfair, it favors only the big parties. Open lists do not exist at all, currently there is a paradox that a candidate who has won 200 votes, surprisingly, is in Parliament today, while another candidate, even when he wins 9000 votes, due to this pirated Electoral Code, cannot win the mandate of the deputy because this system does not allow it.

The citizen's vote should go where it is oriented, Duka strongly states, because we must give the rightful place to a candidate. As an apology in three decades in politics, I think that this very good initiative must change and needs alliances with other parties but also with the SP, I think that they beg for negotiations and the understanding of Prime Minister Rama, who has absolute power as consequence of this system".

The president of PAA Duka, supported by his colleagues Shehi and Shabani, clearly states that "this electoral system must be changed, the ideal would be a proportional national system. PAA, LZHK, Lévizja Thurje, and other small parties think that out of 12 zones, there should be 4 zones and below. Thus, the probability that votes will be converted into deserving deputies is greater when the region grows ".

The Duke further says that " the situation of the agrarian issue in Albania is very important, but unfortunately we have not been able to conduct it properly in recent years due to many political circumstances. I am not asking Rama for power, but given that agrarian and environmental issues are very important, in order to make a valuable contribution to governance, if there is an offer from the SP, it can be seen and taken into consideration" .

The duke, with the modesty that characterizes him, said that, " I don't want either a minister or a deputy favored by any party".

"PAA in the last elections on May 14, received 45 thousand, classifying PAA as the fifth party in the country. We are very confident that in the general elections in 2025, PAA will receive over 100 thousand votes, being the decisive parliamentary group. PAA is really open to alliances with any party, as long as they give the best for agrarian issues in Albania. It is certain that PAA will have a surprising growth, for this we have started working hard now, we do not close the door of cooperation to anyone, we are convinced that PAA will most likely be a political force, a governing political force" , concluded the Leader of PAA, Agron Duka.
