The representative of the DP's legal affairs of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Ivi Kaso, has called on the Supreme Court to issue a decision on the seal and emblem of the Democratic Party.

In his statement to the media, Kaso said that for two years, the Albanian courts, with the political order of Edi Rama, have taken hostage the formal representation of the Albanian opposition.

Kaso emphasizes that according to the review deadlines, the Supreme Court should have made a decision by June 25, 2023.

He has accused that the prime minister is trying to appoint the Albanian opposition.

"Edi Rama cannot appoint the Albanian opposition. He can neither buy nor blackmail it with Russian money files", said Kaso.

Kaso has called on the Supreme Court to make a decision as soon as possible, on a matter as clear as sunlight.

He said that at least they are asking to implement the deadlines set by the law and to read the decision on this issue.

" For two years already, the courts of Albania, with the political order of Edi Rama, have taken hostage the formal representation of the Albanian opposition.

Edi Rama is personally invested in this issue, as the McGonigal file testified, influencing all levels of the judiciary and electoral institutions. Apparently, the Supreme Court has also fallen prey to the prime minister's interest.

After the Court of Appeal, closing its eyes and bowing its head, made the shameful decision to drag this case on indefinitely, we immediately appealed this decision to the Supreme Court, on May 15, 2023. According to the review deadlines, the Supreme Court should have take a decision by June 25, 2023.

Today, 4 months have passed and there is still no indication of when the Supreme Court will meet to give a decision; which is of very high public interest.

The postponement of this case by the Supreme Court to the Greek calendars is of interest only to those who want to keep the opposition virtually divided. Although there is no doubt now which political formation and leadership really represents the opposition, the only ones who pretend not to understand, that they care, are the Supreme Court and the Electoral College.

The Electoral College, in fact, under the personal interest of the Prime Minister, has set unheard of legal records in interpreting the facts as it pleases. The reasons of the College to catapult the seal, the sigla and the representation of the opposition to the person who sleeps in Edi Rama's pocket, in terms of logical contradiction, are typical cases of the Guinness record.

For these reasons, today, on behalf of the Democratic Party and the opposition, we want to call on the Supreme Court to make a decision as soon as possible, on a matter as clear as the light of day. Perhaps it is too much to ask for integrity and justice from this court, but at least we ask that it adhere to the deadlines that the law sets and, even if it bows its head, as in the case of the Court of Appeal, read the decision on this matter.

We know that whatever the decision, the truth is one.

Edi Rama cannot name the Albanian opposition. He can neither buy nor blackmail him with dossiers of Russian money or promises to build towers in DP's yard. Bargaining for giving an "electoral bonus" in exchange for a stamp can be done with all those who have lost their stamp, but not with the opposition of this country.

Therefore, a final appeal to the Supreme Court: consider this matter, as the law dictates. Give your decision. Because the Albanians have made their decision in time. I don't believe that we are asking for too much when we only ask for the implementation of the law, at least in respect of the procedure", said Kaso./ CNA
