Berisha: The alley that Rama wanted to turn into an opposition cell, turned into
The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with the citizens who protested in his support on "Mustafa Matohiti" street for 333 days.

Berisha thanked the supporters and accused Prime Minister Edi Rama.

He stated that Rama wanted to turn the alley near his house into a political cell of the opposition, but the citizens turned it into a ray of hope for Albanians.

Excerpt from the statement:

This type of political environment, Edi Rama had predicted for the entire year that was entering.

Edi Rama himself on every television, while for the opposition only Facebook.

I was sworn that in those extreme conditions I would make the opposition for the Albanians and with the same determination that I had done until then.

My promise of victory did not waver for a single moment, nor did my faith waver.

But it must be accepted.

Berisha: The alley that Rama wanted to turn into an opposition cell, turned into

I faced a great difficulty, and I don't mean house arrest. The difficulty was that with the leader of the opposition arrested, Albania was in danger of sinking into fear. This fear could easily enter the home of every Albanian, this fear could spread like an epidemic, that when the law, the constitution was violated and Berisha was arrested without any proof, what could be done with the ordinary citizen.

This fear, my friends, would turn Albania into a second Tunisia in the middle of Europe at the beginning of that year.

But something wonderful happened just two days later. Something that surpassed any plans I had prepared for resistance. Something that prevented Albania from returning to the republic of fear.

On January 2, just 2 days after my arrest, I hear cheers from below the balcony. I go to the window and look at you, undefeated resistance fighters. I heard your shouts like the roar of lions, and then I understood; what scares the Albanians?

What in the world scares the democrats?

Who will scare the Albanians, Edi Rama.

Who will scare the Albanians, Irena with 5 surnames, or the mercenary Dumani. No, never.

Nothing scares the real Albanian. This is why you gathered on that day, even though it was a day of rest, after the change of years. That's why you gathered spontaneously that day even though they made the most extreme efforts to scare you, to back off, to push you to surrender.

This is why the alley that Edi Rama wanted to turn into the political cell of the opposition, you young men and women, men and women, turned into a ray of hope for Albanians, when it was the darkest days for the democrats.

Therefore, and only a few days later, that road was inaugurated as the Road of Hope.

And today, 333 days later in this blessed number, the resistance of the road of hope has secured its place in the history of great Albanian resistance.

Real Albanian heroes, invincible resistance fighters. For 333 days you stayed every night in the coldest days, under the strongest storms, under the scorching sun. You stayed not for interest, not for servility towards the president because you had the whole world telling you to go against him.

But you stood for the truth, you stood for pluralism, you stood because you would never accept fear and pressure.

You stood for Albania, for the national interest, for the dignity of Albanians, and above all for your conscience./ CNA
