The Council of the European Union, in the conclusions published today for Albania, expresses reservations about political parties.

The Council of the EU declares that political polarization is affecting the Parliament and calls for more dialogue.

"The Council welcomes the opening of the core group with Albania at the conference on October 15, 2024 and the opening of the external relations group chapter. The Council appreciates the government's objective to continue Albania's progress on its path to the EU, encourages all political forces to pursue their ambitious plan for closing membership, and expects to be able to open further negotiating groups as soon as possible. as soon as possible, when the conditions are met.

The Council positively notes the continuous implementation of justice by Albania, a reform which should be consolidated, offering further improvements in the impartiality, independence and professionalism of the judicial system. The Council also welcomes the advancement of the vetting process and in particular the completion of the case proceedings at the beginning for example, and encourages Albania to complete the entire process in a timely manner.
