Rama: We want to 'marry' the EU, forget the 'divorces' of

Prime Minister Edi Rama from Brussels has informed that Albania has made clear its choice to be part of the EU, considering it as a marriage and leaving behind the 'divorces' of the past.

"I have learned that there is no chapter or any paragraph that is easy with the EU, so everything must go through a detailed examination and close cooperation through dialogue and mutual understanding. We are waiting to open the group chapters, but at the same time we are not lying to ourselves that it will be hard work.

I appreciate this process very much because, as the commissioner said, it helps the country to grow, mature and transform and become a state where institutions are much more important than any other and when the whole system works as a guarantor for democracy and the rule of law, every something else works.

For this group chapter that we opened today, it is not difficult that Albania has been in harmony with EU policies in terms of diplomacy and security, and the Albanians themselves are supportive of these types of policies and we have made a clear choice as a nation that we want to we 'marry' the EU. Let's forget all the 'divorces' of the past, there is no going back, only forward", said Rama./ CNA
