"EU demands that the practices be canceled"/ Bushati: Three media

Invited to the "Now" show with Erla Mëhilli, former Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati spoke about the electoral process in Albania, where he focused on the use of state resources in the campaign.

The former minister said that in 2013, when he was in opposition, he believed that this would never happen again, but even today, 12 years later, it continues to be the same. Bushati stated that both political parties are to blame for this.

Further, the former minister stated that while the EU is seeking to cancel strategic investor practices, in Albania there are 3 national media outlets in the position of strategic investor.

Bushati said that we need to decide whether we want information to be in three hands that are fed by the state budget or to move towards models where the media does not have access to national funds.

" In 2013, I believed it when we said that there would be no more use of state resources. When I see the report after 12 years, I said why are we in this roundabout way, why can't we make this leap. The fault lies with both parties. We have four national media outlets, 3 have the position of strategic investor. Meanwhile, the EU is demanding that the strategic investor practices be canceled.

"We want information to be in 3 hands and fed from the state budget or to move towards models where the media does not have access to national funds and provides quality information ," said Bushati./ CNA
