The chairman of the FRPD and the elected MP in the Tirana district, Besart Xhaferri, declared today the opposition's position regarding the election results.

Invited to a television interview, Xhaferri emphasized that for the Democratic Party and the opposition, hope for transparency and a serious investigation comes from internationals.

Xhaferri added that internationals are demanding investigations into the electoral process in Albania.

"The opposition is continuing the process of documenting electoral violations that occurred during the local elections of May 11. Evidence of the violations has been collected on the ground and is in the process of being documented. We are trying to bring the same attention to the US Senate and Congress. Hope for transparency and a serious investigation of the alleged manipulations comes from internationals. European popular parties are expected to bring a fact-finding mission to the country, while the European Parliament and important political forces in Germany are demanding an investigation of the electoral process in Albania," said Xhaferri. /CNA
