Gaz Bardhi: Families of Socialist MPs have received money from IPARD funds

The head of the Democratic Party group, Gazment Bardhi, accused today that the families of socialist MPs have received money from IPARD funds.

In his speech in Parliament, Bardhi said that this money from EU funds and European citizens, instead of being given to farmers, was obtained through family and political connections.

Bardhi added that the DP and the opposition will establish an investigative commission on this issue within the week.

"The motion was for farmers. I will explain to you why Taulant cannot talk about IPARD funds and farmers. We did neither more nor less when you presented the Xhafaj commission. You also presented a resolution for a special commission. The resolution was voted on and then the commission. You don't want to talk about why the EU has blocked the millions of euros of funds that go to farmers. We are the only country that has blocked our funds because this government has chosen to steal not only the funds of Albanians, but also of European citizens.

Within a week, we will set up an investigative commission on this matter. We will verify how the farmers' money was taken by Sule Çele's father. A man declared wanted as the head of one of the most powerful criminal organizations in Albania.

We do not want to make politics on this issue, but we have a duty to discuss how the trust of the European institutions and the Parliament in approving the funds has been violated.  

Money from the IPARD fund was distributed to family members, instead of being taken from the farmers of Divjaka, Lushnja, and Elbasan.

"Families of socialist deputies have received money from IPARD funds. We expect the government to find a legal solution, so that the money will not be stolen and not through rumors," said Bardhi. /CNA
