DP against the protest for the KLA/Balla-opposition: Come on, on the condition

The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, stated today that the DP's stance against participating in Friday's protest in Tirana for justice for former KLA leaders is wrong.

In his speech during the plenary session, Balla said that over the years, Albania has stood by Kosovo, even during the difficult years of war, therefore the opposition should protest, but not politicize its position.

Balla took the opportunity to remind Democratic Leader Sali Berisha of some events from those years, when the latter held the office of president.

"The Assembly has adopted 9 resolutions and 11 declarations on everything that happened in Kosovo from 1991-2005. It was adopted with full consensus by the deputies of that legislature. Even in the difficult years of '97, '99, the Albanian Assembly has maintained these positions at the right time that Kosovo required.

Before we vote, I invite you to read them. I'm moving on to something that is urgent. The decision of the DP made public yesterday to boycott the protest for the KLA. It is an expression of positions against the interest of Kosovo. You don't want to be supported tomorrow.

The Prime Minister will not be at the protest tomorrow. Come on the condition that we do not politicize it. Hold your own protest if you do not want to come tomorrow. This is called: "One time, one position". Coincidence can happen once. Do you remember the violation of the KLA embargo on Serbian oil to the detriment of Kosovo's interests? All the witnesses of the Berisha-Miloševi? meeting were killed. Arkan came later. President Thaçi testified to this in a public statement. The late Rugova avoided any meeting with Berisha. KLA soldiers were arrested when Berisha was president in Tirana. Kosovo needed Albania's position more than ever at that moment", said Balla./CNA
