Abilekaj: The essence of the election distortion is the 4-year party-state

Journalist Enton Abilekaj said today that the essence of the distortion of the May 11 elections is the 4-year party-state system.

In a television appearance on 'Syri TV', Abilekaj stated that this is the most important issue, which according to him should be raised in the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council by opposition MPs.

"The problem is that, as it is, here we are dealing with a party-state that recruits and works for 4 years or nonstop with the public hall, with people who have interests, with the public administration and with businesses and criminal organizations. This is a 4-year normality that creates a system, which in elections has only an overcommitment.

When there are no elections, this system is the one that prevents the media from telling the truth; this system is the one that prevents civil society from protesting; this system is the one that increasingly hinders political and democratic rights.

"This is what I think should be said in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe by the opposition deputies. This is the essence of the elections. It is not a problem of the "Bulgarian train" or the cash machines, because these are details related to a system that has been functioning this way for four years.
If we do not fight this, we cannot understand why the opposition is asking for a technical government and we cannot understand why this government cannot hold free elections," said Abilekaj./CNA
