KAS rejects SP's request: We cannot change the standard in progress

The Complaints and Sanctions Commission rejected the request made by the Socialist Party regarding invalid ballots from the May 11 elections. The SP requested that these ballots be taken into consideration even if the voting mark is outside the box in which the marking is made on the ballot.

KAS member Ledio Braho revealed the reasons that led KAS to this decision.

Braho highlighted two elements that, according to KAS, would lead to a change in the standard in this process.

"Then, the Socialist Party's request had two elements. The first element had to do with the fact that it asked KAS to change the standard for evaluating votes for the preferential list of candidates, when the mark is placed outside the candidate's square. The second element was that it was unclear whether this different evaluation should violate the standard followed so far, or whether it meant that even those three hundred boxes that have been opened so far should be recounted once from the beginning, if this standard were to change. So for us, both elements are considered abnormal in this process, the first, because we cannot change the standard in the process. The second is that these three hundred boxes that have been opened so far cannot be re-evaluated once only with regard to these votes. And what is most important, we continue to hold the opinion that the vote should be evaluated objectively with regard to the candidate", - said Braho./CNA
