Electoral democracy/Competitive pluralism?

Electoral democracy/Competitive pluralism?

Albania and Kosovo held partial local elections yesterday. They started at the same time.

In Kosovo, the votes were counted at 9:00 PM, in Albania the count began at 10:00 PM. It ended this morning.

Electoral democracy/Competitive pluralism?

In Kosovo, candidates fought for every vote until the last second, in Albania, the winning candidates announced the results 3 days before the vote.

In Kosovo, rival candidates congratulated each other, including the main candidate who lost and the one who won in Pristina. In Albania?! It's unimaginable.

In Kosovo, the opposition was divided, but it won the main municipalities, most of them. In Albania?! It's unimaginable. It couldn't even put up a logo.

In Kosovo, during the voting, the law enforcement task force made arrests for two suspects for electoral crimes. In Albania?! It's unimaginable.

In Kosovo, political leaders welcomed the results. In Albania?! It's unimaginable.

In Kosovo, the country may go to early parliamentary elections. It's a matter of governing mandate, not governing majority. In Albania, the word "early" is not recognized.

In Kosovo, the main political leaders are mostly 40-50 years old. In Albania? We are still hostage to a generation that has been vegetating for 30-40 years. Without change, without rotation, without new arrivals.

Electoral democracy/Competitive pluralism?

Finally, but significantly: elections live pluralism, competition, the best alternatives, and representative and functional democracy.

In Kosovo, the electoral map shows pluralism and 5-6 political actors in representation/direction, i.e. a pluralistic and competitive electoral and representative democracy. In Albania? In addition to one color, the other areas are needed as spots in the biography. With a historical record of non-participation/refusal (18%), and a historical record of victory (66%-83%). The last, but proud. As before, so now.
