The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said on Saturday in Belgrade that he had a "very useful and good" conversation with the director of the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Burns.

Burns visited Serbia earlier this week, and Vucic called "ridiculous" comments that the top US official's visit to Serbia was kept secret, while it was transparent in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to Serbian news agency Beta.

"You know, talk to your guests and see if the public likes it or not... We, as a serious country, thought it was the best possible way, and the Americans, as the most serious country in the world along with China , thought it was the best possible way to monitor the visit," said Vucic.

Until Vucic's statement on Saturday, none of the officials in Serbia or the US confirmed or denied Burns' visit to Belgrade.

Vucic added that the topics of his conversation with the CIA chief were "important for the future" of the region and Serbia, and that the meeting between them was "worthy" and "important".

On August 23, Burns concluded a two-day visit to Kosovo, having previously visited Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

The Government of Kosovo evaluated the visit of the head of the CIA to Pristina as an "important historical moment" in the relations between Kosovo and the USA.

Burns also met in Pristina with the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and with the head of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA), Petrit Ajeti./ Rel
