Storms, sinking and cyber espionage: the conspiracy "menu" is ready

A luxury yacht, Bayesian that sank on August 19 a few hundred meters from the port of Palermo. So far, there would be nothing remarkable. Things change once the identities of the people on board and, unfortunately, the victims are learned. Among these, the most famous is undoubtedly the British tycoon Mike Lynch.

A road accident in England, in the Cambridgeshire region: a pedestrian was hit by a car on August 17 and died two days later. Again, nothing extraordinary, if it weren't for the identity of the victim: Stephen Chamberlain, Lynch's partner.

What unites two geographically distant tragedies and colors the entire story with yellow is the relationship that connected the two victims: Lynch and Chamberlain were business partners. Together they had founded two companies: Darktrace and Autonomy. Active realities in the world of cyber security, more specifically cyber espionage. And the plot menu was "served". In the early hours of August 20, when news of the shipwreck began to spread, accusations began: it cannot be a coincidence that shortly after being acquitted of fraud (for the sale of Autonomy) Lynch died. Practically at the same time as his partner Chamberlain. Lynch's lawyer, Chris Morvillo, also disappeared in Palermo.

There was talk of dark traffic of the victims of two accidents. Who, however, were just coming off a court victory: "Fifteen survivors of the Bayesian ship, including Angela Bacares, Lynch's wife, confirmed that the boat party was organized to celebrate the full release of Lynch and Chamberlain, who in June were both acquitted of charges of fraud and false accounts by a San Francisco court."

Indeed, somewhere it was even written that some improbable secret service might have hit the Bayesian with a targeted vortex. Predictable, perhaps even natural. When there are dealings with the secret services (Darktrace is an extremely advanced tool that uses a self-learning artificial intelligence system), billion-dollar contracts with the Pentagon, deals with the CIA and NSA, a road accident and a shipwreck, you dive into conspiracy theories is the simplest way, it is the one that gives the most immediate answers. Because they, conspiracy theories, offer order where there is only confusion. And chaos.

However, there is one thing to consider: the case exists. And we have to deal with it. Let's also assume that a road accident like the one that killed Chamberlain could be staged with relative ease. But the same cannot be said for the sinking of a ship involving 22 people, which also happened during a storm. The cause of which seems to be related, as climatologist Paolo Sottocorona recalls, to the problematic state in which the Mediterranean Sea is located, increasingly tropicalized due to global warming: "The warm sea looks pleasant, but the heat from a physical point of view is energy. The Mediterranean is currently a reservoir of gasoline. If you put a match there, that is, a stream of cold air like those these days, it explodes," said Sottocorona to La Repubblica.

Of course, as soon as Lynch's dealings with the secret services came to light, the collective memory inevitably shifted to another shipwreck: that of May 28, 2023, when a boat full of Aise and Mossad agents sank in Lake Maggiore. along with all the secrets of that unusual encounter. Even in that case a whirlwind, or in any case a sudden deterioration of atmospheric conditions.

Even if many coincidences may seem surprising or even disturbing, it is always good to analyze the facts based on the elements at our disposal: there is a clear video of the moment of the Bayesian sinking, "swallowed" by the waves in the less than a minute, where no third-party elements suggestive of sabotage appear to appear; the possibility must be analyzed that areas such as the port of Palermo, Italy's fifth most populous city, may have been breached by those who apparently wanted to intervene or organize some form of sabotage or external intervention. One wonders if those who wanted to silence Lynch to settle unspecified secrets or personal scores would not have thought of a less obvious method.

Finally, there is the age-old "who benefits?" dilemma, as the figure of the most talked about drowning victim is raised in our eyes, along with the load of mysteries that surrounded him after his death. In conclusion, let's let the investigation run its course before jumping to easy conclusions. If we wanted to indulge in a pinch of conspiracy theory, let's just say that if we were 007, we'd avoid any invitation to take part in a boat trip these days. But that's another story. / Inside Over – Bota.al
