Ukraine advances in the attack/ Drones hit the Russian air base

In the early hours of the morning, Ukraine attacked a Russian military base with a drone.

Volgograd's Marinovka airfield was attacked around 3:30 a.m. Thursday as Kiev targeted a fuel depot and Putin's deadly bombs.

Up to 28 drones were launched across Russia from Ukraine in the attack, according to the Russian defense ministry, with Moscow claiming the fire at the airport was caused by falling debris.

"Most of the drones were destroyed. As a result of the crash of the UAV, a fire broke out on the territory of a facility of the Ministry of Defense," said Andrei Bocharov, the governor of the region.

It comes after Russian troops suffered heavy losses in Kursk, while Ukraine pressed ahead with its offensive in the region, according to Kiev's military.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelesnky visited Ukraine's Sumy region, where his troops launched an offensive in Russia's Kursk region on August 6.

Zelensky said he had met his top commander, Oleksandr Syrskyi, during the visit, nearly two weeks after the cross-border offensive./ CNA
