Israeli army launches new attacks in southern Lebanon/ Orders evacuation of

Israeli military forces have launched new attacks on the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon and issued an evacuation order for the historic city's Christian neighborhood.

Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee called on residents of Tyre and surrounding areas, including the Christian neighborhood, to leave immediately.

In a post on the "X" platform, he stated that, according to Israel, due to Hezbollah's ceasefire violations and attacks on Israeli territory, the army is forced to act forcefully against the group.

Previous evacuation orders have typically not included the Christian neighborhood. However, this is the second time the Israeli military has alleged that Hezbollah is operating from the area and that it could therefore become a military target.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese state news agency (NNA) reported that there were new attacks on a public housing area in the city of Ir on Tuesday. Rescue teams searching for missing people found another body.

These attacks are occurring despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States between the governments of Israel and Lebanon.

Hezbollah is not a party to the ceasefire agreement and has stated that it does not recognize it as long as Israeli forces continue to be present on Lebanese territory.

According to Israel, the evacuation of the city of Tyre is necessary due to Hezbollah activities and alleged ceasefire violations by the group. /CNA
