The last attempt to constitute the Assembly

The deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo gather today for the 52nd continuation of the constitutive session, one day before the expiration of the 30-day deadline set by the Constitutional Court weeks ago.

After this, the deputies will not be able to take any decision or action regarding the constitution of the Assembly. This was stated in the decision of the Constitutional Court, published in the late hours of July 24, through which an ex officio temporary measure was imposed from July 27 to August 8.

In its reasoning, the Court stated that if an ex officio interim measure were not imposed on the decisions and actions of elected members of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo after July 26, 2025, any decision and action taken after this date until the Court's decision on the requests "could cause irreparable damage to the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo and the functioning of key institutions in the Republic of Kosovo."

The court supported the imposition of the measure on the grounds that there are two cases pending on the issue of constitution, the one presented by the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo.
