Shooting in Montreal/ A police officer and a citizen were killed

A Montreal Police (SPVM) officer and a civilian were killed and others injured in a shooting in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood of Montreal, Canada, on Monday.

At around 11:30 a.m. Canadian time, the SPVM issued an immediate threat alert for an armed and dangerous suspect in the CDN sector.

Locals reported 20-30 shots fired. It is a predominantly Jewish area with numerous kosher restaurants, a Chabad center, Jewish schools and Jewish community centers. The shooting scene is right next to the Hilton Hotel.

One suspect has since been confirmed neutralised, and a police officer and a civilian were later confirmed dead.
Video from the scene showed two bodies on the floor.

A gunman, apparently Caucasian, can be seen face down wearing camouflage, and a rifle (apparently an SKS) is also visible on the floor nearby.
