Rescue experts from around the world are continuing efforts to rescue an American researcher who became trapped 1,000 meters deep after falling ill in a cave in southern Turkey.
Mark Dickey, American researcher, 40, fell ill while descending Morca Cave in the Demi Mountains.
"As you can see I'm up, I'm alert, I'm talking. But I'm not healed from the inside yet, so I'm going to need a lot of help to get out of here," he said, among other things.
Experts have been communicating with Dickey for 7 hours, while they report that the temperatures in the cave are as low as 4-6 degrees Celsius.
They point out that the rescue operation could take days or even weeks, depending on the conditions.
The rescue teams are from Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Turkey. The cave is divided into several sections, with each country's rescue team responsible for one section./ CNA
