"He never accepted compromise on Kosovo"/Hill: I blame Milosevic

The first American ambassador to Albania, Christopher Hill, gave an interview for the "Now" show with Erla Mëhilli, where he also spoke about his relationship with Slobodan Miloševi?.

Hill said he blames Milosevic for using violence because he refused to cooperate with the US.

Further, the former ambassador expressed that in his opinion, progress has been made with Serbia, but they have major problems because they depend on Russia.

 

“ He helped us in Bosnia, but he never accepted compromise on Kosovo, he was not a reliable partner. Sometimes you don’t have many choices; they are not ideal choices, but they are what you have. I worked hard for a political solution after Rambouillet. I didn’t always succeed, but I did my best. The use of force opens up other problems, and I blame Milosevic because he didn’t want to work with us, but nobody should be happy about the use of force. He is dead now, so it is easier to talk about leaders who are no longer with us. I think he was ready to find a solution in Bosnia and in fact he helped us on the Bosnian issue. He was not ready for Kosovo, he was not ready at all for Kosovo to find a solution and so we ended up in a dangerous situation in Kosovo which could have gotten even worse. When he said he would do things, he generally did them, but you never felt that you had a partner. I think we have "We've made a lot of progress with Serbia, but they have huge energy problems because they depend on Russia, which uses energy as a weapon. It's important to help Serbia move away from this threat. I've also worked a lot on relations between Serbia and Ukraine, but there are issues where we need to continue working ," Hill said.
