Date of Trump-Netanyahu meeting revealed

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with US President Donald Trump on December 29 to discuss the next steps in the Gaza ceasefire, an Israeli government spokeswoman said. 

"The Prime Minister will meet with President Trump on Monday, December 29, to discuss the next steps and phases and the international force to stabilize the ceasefire plan," Israeli government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian said in an online briefing with reporters.

Netanyahu said on Sunday that he would discuss with Trump the second phase of the US plan to end the war in Gaza later this month.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect in October. Both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the ceasefire, while major gaps remain on critical issues that remain to be discussed under Trump's plan to end the war, including the disarmament of Hamas, the post-war governance of Gaza, and the composition and mandate of an international security force in the enclave. /CNA
