Russian drones strike an apartment building/7 injured in northeastern Ukrainian

At least seven people were injured when Russian drones hit an apartment block in the northeastern Ukrainian town of Okhtyrka, in the Sumy region, the incident was confirmed by the region's Governor, Oleh Hryhorov.

The Sumy region, which borders Russia, has faced bombings and drone attacks almost daily since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, a war that is now approaching its fourth year.

Hryhorov said in a post on the Telegram messaging app that the injured had been taken to hospital, where two of them were admitted. The others received treatment and were released.

The multi-story building suffered extensive damage, with some residents managing to reach the basement after air raid warnings, while emergency crews rescued others from the upper floors.

There was no immediate comment from Moscow about the attack.

Both sides deny targeting civilians, but thousands of people have lost their lives in the conflict, the vast majority of them Ukrainians.
