Thousands flee Thailand-Cambodia border after deadly clashes and airstrikes

The Royal Thai Army has launched air strikes along its disputed border with Cambodia, following deadly clashes.

Thailand confirmed on Monday morning that one of its soldiers was killed and eight others were wounded after its troops came under fire from Cambodia.

Clashes have been reported in Thailand's northeastern provinces of Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani, as well as in Cambodia's northern border provinces of Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey.

Both countries have accused each other of violating a ceasefire agreement brokered by Malaysia and US President Donald Trump.

A bitter border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia erupted into a five-day war in July, killing at least 48 people and displacing about 300,000 others./ CNA
