Netanyahu: I will meet with President Trump within this month

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. During his speech, Netanyahu revealed that he will meet with US President Donald Trump later this month.

The Israeli prime minister said he believes the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire is coming to an end and expects it to move to the second phase soon. Netanyahu said that the possibilities for peace are close and that he will discuss them with President Trump once they meet.

"We will discuss how to end Hamas' rule in Gaza, because this is an essential part of ensuring a different future for Gaza and a different future for those of us who face Gaza," Netanyahu said.

Chancellor Merz arrived in Israel on Saturday for his first visit since taking office, reaffirming Berlin's support for the Israeli state. /CNA
