"I had a constructive conversation with Witkoff and Kushner"/ Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had a "very constructive" phone conversation with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and the US president's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Zelensky said they had discussed how to ensure Russia adhered to any possible agreement to end the war and stressed that he was determined to continue working with the US.

"I just had a long and meaningful call with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, along with Andrii Hnatov and Rustem Umerov. I am grateful for a very focused and constructive discussion. We covered many aspects and reviewed the main points that could ensure an end to the war and eliminate the threat of a new full-scale Russian invasion, as well as the risk of Russia failing to keep its promises, as has repeatedly happened in the past.

Ukraine is determined to continue working in good faith with the American side to truly achieve peace. We agreed on the next steps and formats for talks with the United States. I thank President Trump for such an intensive approach to negotiations.

Now I expect Rustem Umerov and General Hnatov with a detailed report in person. Not everything can be discussed on the phone, so we need to work closely with our teams on ideas and proposals. Our approach is that everything should be feasible - any measure essential for peace, security and reconstruction. Thank you!” , Zelensky wrote in his post on “X”.

On the other hand, Moscow does not seem to have made any concessions and continues to carry out massive bombing of Ukraine. The attack carried out overnight on Ukrainian territory was condemned by Ukraine's allies in the EU.

In a post on social media, French President Emmanuel Macron said he had spoken to Zelensky and offered his full solidarity.

"France is determined to work with all partners to ensure measures to reduce tensions and impose a ceasefire,"  Macron said.

Earlier, the French president confirmed he would join Zelensky, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz for talks in London on Monday. /CNA
